Weekly Photo Challenge: JOY. When I read this week’s challenge to upload a photo that exemplifies JOY, I immediately thought of this black and white photo I had taken of Gina Knight in July 2009. I was wandering Grant Park looking for line and form imagery to complete an assignment in my black & white photography class at Columbia College and was happily distracted by Gina’s band which was playing right across the street from my building. Gina personified joie de vivre to me in that moment, and it was infectious – her band, the dancers and I were all caught in its spell, moved to respond in whatever way we might. I was reminded, once again, of the power of music to transform and transport us to a powerful, unforgettable place.
Wow – I am extremely touched to see this. 🙂 How cool!
Gina, I’m really glad you like it. As you may have discerned, I am also a jazz musician and as such I am blessed to find various “zones” of sheer, blissful being via music and sight. When the two come together, as they did that night watching your band in action, well, magical mysterious miraculous things come about. Thanks for providing the inspiration.
Julie, I am extremely touched to see this picture! Thank you so much! 🙂
